The Trevor Project
Pride in Action Campaign

It all began when Ryan, Avery and Nathanio were part of the in-house creative team at The Trevor Project. There, they worked closely together on many projects for the development, marketing, advocacy and communications teams. This is one example of the many projects they were directly involved in that showcases their full range of skills and expertise.

CAMPAIGN SUMMARY

Pride in Action celebrates the ways our community showed up for LGBTQ+ young people this year, highlighting the tangible actions we took together that help prevent suicide.

Building a world where LGBTQ+ young people see a bright future for themselves will take all of us, but change starts with one person. Together, we can help make the world a more welcoming place. This Pride, we'll be focusing on telling stories of the relationships and actions that relay the crucial message to LGBTQ+ young people:

You belong. You matter.

AUDIENCES

Primary Audience:

Supportive adults (existing donors)

We hope to create opportunities for allies and supporters of LGBTQ+ young people to actively engage in our life-saving mission. This engagement can take various forms, such as spreading awareness of our crisis services, enhancing our advocacy efforts, or contributing financially to our mission. We want to emphasize that every action, no maer the scale, plays a vital role in supporting the well-being of LGBTQ+ young people.

Secondary Audience:

Supportive adults (prospective donors)

As the leading suicide prevention organization for LGBTQ+ young people, we serve as a beacon of hope, especially during pivotal times like Pride season. Recognizing that many supportive adults want to help but may not know how, we aim to guide them. By engaging these prospective donors, we offer them meaningful ways to participate and make a difference during Pride, reinforcing their crucial role in supporting and empowering LGBTQ+ young people.

Messaging Strategy

  • Pride in action.

  • Celebrate Pride by committing to meaningful year-round action and being a visible ally and supporter of LGBTQ+ young people.

  • Thanks to the generosity of donors like you, the Trevor community has shown up for LGBTQ+ young people for 25 years, and with your continued support, is ready to serve the next generation in the year ahead.

Our goal is to live in a future where 0% of LGBTQ+ young people consider suicide. Until we reach that day, your support allows us to do crucial research unlocking our path towards ending suicide and understanding the young people we serve, as well as helps Trevor be a trusted thought leader on saving LGBTQ+ lives.

Over 100,000 youth and youth-serving adults have taken our CARE, Ally, and Lifeguard trainings, including over 20K educators.

  • Reinforce how allyship can help young people be their best selves.

This Pride, we want to highlight how the actions of affirming adults not only saves lives, but empowers LGBTQ+ young people to show up as their best selves, become changemakers, and celebrate Pride with action.

  • Use storytelling and research to celebrate affirming adults and young people making a difference.

Empower our audience to know that they can make positive change in their own community. Using research and storytelling, we can showcase those making change in big and small ways and the impact those actions can have on mental health

  • Pride means taking action to build stronger communities year-round in big and small ways, and Trevor is here to support LGBTQ+ young people and allies alike.

    1. Our crisis intervention services ensure LGBTQ+ people have someone to turn to, day or night.

    2. Trevor also provides advocacy, training resources, affirming content, and education efforts to help allies show up more effectively for LGBTQ+ young people.

  • This year more than ever, we need you to show/support Pride with action.

    Existing Donor:
Your support of LGBTQ+ young people already saves lives and supports Pride all year round. A gift to Trevor allows us to continue our work as the only advocacy team focused solely on preventing suicide among LGBTQ+ young people, helping pass laws that protect LGBTQ+ youth mental health, and helping defeat legislation that harms mental health.

    Prospective Donor:
Your support of Pride can be life-saving. Last year, our crisis intervention team served over half a million contacts. Your gift allows us to continue our life-saving work.
