The Trevor Project
Brand Illustrations System
Budget cuts necessitated losing rights to brand graphics from an external agency that were used across all channels: socials, paid, website, OOH, print. The team was tasked with creating a new brand illustration system to replace thousands of graphics.
PROJECT SUMMARY
A versatile brand illustrations system to support quick-turn implementations and customizable characters to represent a diverse audience.
BUILDING BLOCKS
The system is built on pre-made interchangeable amorphous shapes which can be combined to create a unique character or scene. This approach allows for an infinite number of combinations leading to faster and easier builds, more diverse representation and less creative fatigue.
CHARACTER ASSEMBLY
Based on pre-made elements from the build library, designers can create characters by either customizing existing figures with various hair, faces, and accessories or building an entirely new figure from the inventory of shapes.
POSES & ANGLES
The character building blocks can be applied in a variety of different ways to compose close-up portraits, sitting and standing figures and groups of characters.
PATTERNS
In addition to utilizing brand colors to fill in shapes, a pattern library was created to provide more robust options for customization.
ENVIRONMENT
Additional objects and environment elements are added to create full illustrated scenes. The library is intended to continuously expand as new objects and scenes are created for specific needs.
Brand Illustration Set
A final set of 24 illustrated scenes in square, vertical and horizontal formats were created to replace brand illustrations throughout all Trevor materials, templates and the website and for use in the internal brand library.
